Construction & Landscape/Hardscape Crew Leader

Dunn-Wright Hartville, Ohio area Full-time | Monday–Friday Typical hours: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM Pay: $28–$34 per hour

Dunn-Wright is looking for an experienced construction professional capable of developing into—or immediately stepping into—a crew-leader position.

We perform a wide range of construction and property-improvement work including hardscaping, excavation, landscaping, roofing and general construction.

We’re looking for someone who doesn’t simply know how to perform construction work, but can take responsibility for getting a job done correctly.

Responsibilities

Depending on the project, work may include:

• General construction and remodeling
• Hardscape and paver installation
• Retaining-wall construction
• Excavation and grading
• Drainage installation
• Roofing and exterior construction
• Concrete and masonry-related work
• Demolition and site preparation
• Operating skid steers, excavators and other equipment
• Truck and trailer operation
• Job layout and elevations
• Material planning and organization
• Directing and training less-experienced employees
• Maintaining an organized and safe jobsite
• Communicating professionally with customers

What We’re Looking For

The right candidate should eventually be capable of receiving a project assignment and taking responsibility for the crew, equipment, materials, quality and completion of that project.

Relevant experience may include:

• Construction
• Hardscaping
• Excavation
• Carpentry
• Roofing
• Masonry
• Landscape construction
• Heavy-equipment operation
• Truck and trailer operation
• Crew supervision

You don’t have to be an expert in every trade we perform. However, you need a strong construction background, good judgment and the ability to learn unfamiliar work.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• Your own reliable vehicle to get to work
• Strong attendance and punctuality
• Construction/trade experience
• Ability to perform physical work
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather
• Comfortable working on ladders and roofs
• Ability to safely operate tools and equipment
• Ability to lead and train other employees
• Ability to work independently
• Professional behavior around customers
• Willingness to occasionally work later than 3:30 PM when required to properly complete a project

Experience towing equipment trailers and operating skid steers or excavators is strongly preferred.

Compensation

$28–$34 per hour depending on experience, demonstrated skills and level of responsibility.

We aren’t interested in keeping a capable employee at the same wage while asking them to continually take on more responsibility.

A strong crew leader who can independently manage projects, employees, equipment and customers will have the opportunity to earn significantly more than base hourly compensation.
