Position Summary

Our client, who is in the energy space, is looking for an SAP Data Analyst to support a finance-focused SAP implementation initiative. This role will partner closely with Finance stakeholders to help evaluate, configure, build, and test SAP Analytics Cloud Planning templates and reports in preparation for an SAP Phase 1 go-live.

This person will play a hands-on role in translating current planning and budgeting processes into scalable SAP Analytics Cloud Planning functionality. The ideal candidate has practical experience building or configuring SAC Planning templates and reports, understands finance and ERP terminology, and can work directly with business users to document use cases, test functionality, and support future-state planning processes.

This is a part-time hourly contract anticipated to run from approximately July 2026 through April 2027. The workload may fluctuate, with heavier involvement during use case testing, build, testing, and go-live support periods. This role can be remote, with the expectation that the consultant is available for key meetings, design sessions, and collaboration during standard U.S. business hours. Occasional travel may be requested, but is expected to be limited.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Finance stakeholders to understand current financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and template processes.
• Support the configuration and buildout of SAP Analytics Cloud Planning templates, reports, and planning models.
• Assist with use case definition, testing, and validation for SAP Analytics Cloud Planning capabilities.
• Translate existing planning and budgeting processes into future-state SAP Planning functionality.
• Work with business users to understand current-state reporting, budgeting templates, planning scenarios, and financial workflows.
• Help evaluate whether SAP Analytics Cloud Planning can effectively replace or supplement the current financial planning toolset.
• Configure and test planning templates that support budget input, review, consolidation, and reporting needs.
• Support finance users through the transition from familiar spreadsheet-based processes to SAP planning capabilities.
• Assist with validating changes related to profit center, cost center, chart of accounts, and hierarchy structures.
• Collaborate with Finance, SAP project resources, and implementation partners to troubleshoot data, template, and reporting issues.
• Document use cases, decisions, configuration notes, testing outcomes, and outstanding questions.
• Provide hands-on support during testing, build, go-live readiness, and post-go-live hypercare activities.
• Maintain strong communication with project leadership regarding progress, risks, dependencies, and support needs.
  
  

Minimum Experience

• 6 months of hands-on experience with SAP Analytics Cloud Planning, including building or configuring planning templates and reports.
• Experience working with finance, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, or financial planning teams.
• Strong understanding of ERP finance concepts such as cost centers, profit centers, chart of accounts, planning hierarchies, and reporting structures.
• Ability to gather requirements from business users and translate them into system configuration, reports, templates, or testing scenarios.
• Comfortable working in a project environment with evolving requirements, tight timelines, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to compare current-state processes to future-state system capabilities.
• Experience supporting testing, issue resolution, documentation, and user validation activities.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with financial templates, reporting logic, and planning data.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with finance users, technical teams, and project leadership.
• Self-directed consultant who can take ownership of assigned work while collaborating closely with business subject matter experts.
  
  

Additional Plus

• Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud Planning Excel add-in functionality.
• Experience with Vena or similar financial planning and budgeting platforms.
• Prior involvement in SAP S/4HANA Finance, FICO, Project Systems, Treasury, Supply Chain, or related ERP implementation workstreams.
• Experience supporting financial planning and budgeting cycles.
• Experience with data mapping, hierarchy redesign, or financial reporting model rebuilds.
• Background working in the energy, oil and gas, or asset-intensive industries.
• Experience supporting ERP transitions where historical data, hierarchy changes, or financial reporting structures require careful translation.
  
  

Salary / Wage Range

$65.00—$85.00/hour
