Duties
- Engage in hands-on dog handling, ensuring safe and gentle restraint during grooming, veterinary procedures, or training sessions
- Assist with dog training activities to promote good behavior and obedience
- Provide pet grooming services including bathing, brushing, and nail trimming to keep dogs healthy and happy
- Support veterinary staff with animal care tasks such as feeding, administering medication, and monitoring health status
- Offer pet sitting services by caring for dogs during owners’ absence, ensuring their comfort and safety
- Maintain a clean and organized environment in kennels or play areas, adhering to hygiene standards
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their dog’s behavior, care routines, and special needs
- Handle animals with compassion and confidence, utilizing proper animal restraint techniques when necessary
- Assist with heavy lifting of supplies or animals to ensure safety for both staff and pets
Experience
- Prior experience in dog training or handling is highly preferred
- Veterinary technician or assistant experience is a strong plus, demonstrating familiarity with animal health protocols
- Background in pet grooming or pet sitting enhances your ability to provide comprehensive care
- Kennel experience or working in animal shelters shows your capability to manage multiple animals efficiently
- Strong knowledge of animal handling techniques and restraint methods ensures safety and comfort for pets
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and team members
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting and long periods of standing or walking
