Field Engineer
Position Summary
The Field Engineer works directly with customers and account managers to develop systems, assemblies, and services that improve fluid systems and drive sales growth. This role is a key part of the sales model, focused on solving customer problems and establishing technical expertise. The position includes training to become proficient in field engineering services and solutions. The ideal candidate is personable, curious, and skilled at solving complex problems.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a regional subject matter expert on products, fluid processes, and instrumentation applications
- Develop and deliver training programs for internal teams and customers
- Identify, qualify, and quote assembly solution opportunities
- Work with customers to design assembly layouts and drawings
- Support internal production activities related to assemblies
- Provide technical support during customer and sales interactions
- Perform field evaluations and advisory services, and present findings to customers
- Provide technical solutions to customers and internal team members
- Track activities and updates in the business system
- Create 3D CAD models as needed for projects
- Partner with sales to develop and execute annual sales plans
- Support growth of custom assembly and targeted product offerings
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Identify new business opportunities and gather customer requirements
- Position the organization as a preferred supplier
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor degree in Engineering or related technical field required
- 5 years of experience in process and/or manufacturing environments
- Prior field engineering or customer-facing technical experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Windows-based programs
- Ability to collaborate with production and manufacturing teams
- Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple priorities
- Resourceful, creative, and self-motivated
- Experience with business system software is a plus
- 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred) is a plus
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Knowledge of instrumentation, process piping, and fluid systems
- Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset
- Solid business acumen
Salary : $85,000 - $110,000
