Salary Range: $32,000 - $71,000. The position on the scale will be based on years of teaching experience and education.

The Dalton School, a progressive K-12 gender-inclusive school in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, is consistently recognized as one of the preeminent independent day schools in the nation. We are seeking two high school math teachers for the semester beginning September 2026 and ending December 2026. Math at Dalton is taught collaboratively with an emphasis on open-ended problem solving. We seek to cultivate an appreciation for mathematical rigor and a joy in finding creative solutions to problems. Much of our curriculum has been developed and iterated on through collaboration and teamwork. We are a collegial and engaged department committed to inclusion.
Our ideal candidate is passionate and knowledgeable about high school students and mathematics. We are seeking a candidate prepared to teach Algebra 2, proof-based Geometry, Precalculus, and Calculus. Responsibilities
- Teach four courses, collaborating regularly and closely with the course teaching teams.
- Work with existing curriculum to design engaging lessons and assessments.
- Work one-on-one with students daily for support and enrichment.
- Engage actively in departmental and school-wide inclusion activities.
- Participate in other departmental and schoolwide initiatives as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred.
- Relevant math teaching experience required; high school teaching experience preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive practices with respect to pedagogy, curriculum, and community engagement.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Facility with and willingness to learn educational technologies.
