The D. E. Shaw group seeks an inquisitive technology enthusiast to join its Quant Systems team as a systems developer. The Quant Systems team designs and maintains the firm’s largest compute infrastructure. This is a hands-on technical role within an engineering team responsible for high performance trading and research infrastructure.

The Quant Systems team designs and maintains the firm’s largest compute infrastructure. This is a hands-on technical role within an engineering team responsible for high performance trading and research infrastructure.
WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
You’ll work on a global team responsible for operating system platforms, software development tooling, high-performance computing, networking, and storage for research and trading, while engaging in a wide variety of technology initiatives in a distributed computing environment, including:
- Workload scheduling, design, and implementation
- Fleet management
- Clustered file system design and operation
- Software design and life cycle (SDLC)
- Kernel and network performance tuning for low-latency and high-throughput applications
- Metrics collection and data mining analysis
- A degree in computer science (or another related technical discipline) or comparable experience of up to five years, along with a demonstrated interest in how technology works.
- Proficiency in Python, Golang, Rust, or another similar language.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as superb organizational and time management abilities.
- Experience working with complex HPC and storage systems, GPU-based infrastructure, and related data center and hardware environments is beneficial.
- Knowledge of Linux-based systems and networking is a plus.

- The expected annual base salary for this position is $220,000 to $250,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
