Principal Project Leader (Construction)

About the Role:

This is not your typical leadership hire. This is a genuine opportunity for a Senior Architect or Project Leader to step into a Principal-level role with a highly respected construction consultancy delivering one of the largest and most high-profile public sector projects in the Southeast. You’ll be the first senior leader in the region. The person building the office, mentoring and growing the team, developing client relationships, and helping establish the long-term direction of the business locally. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a flagship public sector project as Principal in Charge and senior client lead
• Establish and grow the regional office, building and mentoring a high-performing local team
• Oversee all aspects of project delivery including budgets, schedules, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and construction management
• Build strong client relationships and help drive business growth across South Carolina and the wider region
• Act as a trusted advisor to ownership groups and key project stakeholders throughout all phases of delivery
• Help shape the long-term strategy, culture, and success of the regional business

Key Skills / Requirements:

• 15 years of experience within architecture, construction, or the wider AEC industry
• Strong architectural background with a genuine understanding of how buildings come together from design through delivery
• Experience leading large, complex projects, ideally within the public sector, civic, institutional, or healthcare sectors
• Natural leadership skills with the ability to mentor, develop, and grow teams
• Commercially minded with the confidence to build relationships and help grow a regional presence
• RA license preferred but not essential. Leadership capability and major project experience are the priorities
