Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, slicers, and food processors
- Follow food safety protocols to ensure proper handling, storage, and sanitation of all ingredients and utensils
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and cooking areas throughout shifts
- Assist with meal prep, portioning, and plating to ensure timely service during busy periods
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate orders and maintain smooth workflow
- Support menu planning efforts by providing feedback on ingredient quality and preparation techniques
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service, restaurant kitchens, or culinary environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of food handling safety standards and sanitation practices
- Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques and ingredient preparation
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and adhere to food presentation standards
- Experience operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members
- Demonstrated ability to work quickly under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus for understanding specialized meal requirements
- Catering experience or menu planning knowledge is advantageous but not required
