About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Buyer to join a growing manufacturing team specializing in complex
electromechanical systems. The Buyer will play a key role in the procurement of components, materials,
and services essential for production, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with all
regulatory standards.
This role requires a proactive professional experienced in regulated manufacturing environments (such
as medical devices) who can balance strategic sourcing, supplier management, and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, quote, negotiate, and issue purchase orders for a variety of commodities, including
custom-machined parts, wire harnesses, PCBs, subassemblies, and specialized manufacturing
services. - Ensure all purchased materials and services meet applicable regulatory and quality standards
(e.g., FDA, ISO 13485). - Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships; conduct vendor performance reviews and
support continuous improvement initiatives. - Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers to strengthen the supply base.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering and Production teams to support prototype builds, manage
part obsolescence, and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs). - Perform cost analysis and participate in make vs. buy decisions.
- Support cost-reduction initiatives and provide accurate purchasing data for management
reports. - Track and report on supplier performance — quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
- Expedite critical materials to maintain production schedules and minimize downtime.
- Participate in root cause and corrective action processes for supplier-related issues.
- Maintain complete and compliant purchasing records in alignment with internal quality and
regulatory systems. - Support internal and external audits as required.
Qualifications amp; Experience
Must-Haves: - 4–6 years of experience in procurement or supply chain roles within a regulated manufacturing
environment (preferably medical devices). - Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, Salesforce).
- Proven ability to manage sourcing for low-volume, high-complexity products.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and supplier quality expectations.
Preferred: - Experience with cost analysis, supplier scorecards, and vendor qualification processes.
- Working understanding of FDA and ISO 13485 requirements.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
