The Food Service & Delivery Aide supports Senior Programs by safely transporting meals, assisting with food preparation and packing, maintaining food safety standards, and completing inventory, cleaning, and delivery documentation. This position plays a key role in ensuring timely, accurate, and safe meal service for senior nutrition, Early Childhood, and Summer Food Service programs.

Central Kitchen Operations & Meal Delivery

Estimated Effort: 50%

  • Operate agency vehicles as assigned; may use personal vehicle when agency vehicles are unavailable.

  • Complete daily pre-trip vehicle inspections and report defects, damages, or mechanical issues.

  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicles, inside and out.

  • Report hazardous road conditions to the Senior Programs Manager.

  • Assist with loading and unloading meals and containers at the central kitchen.

  • Pack hot and cold meal components for home-delivered, Early Childhood, and Summer Food Service programs.

  • Prepare hot/cold carriers for assigned meal programs.

  • Deliver home-delivered meals throughout Pike County and surrounding counties within required timeframes.

  • Deliver meals to Early Childhood and Summer Food Service sites and assist with unloading as needed.

  • Pick up and return Early Childhood dishes as assigned.

  • Collect Title III donations and return funds to appropriate staff.

  • Maintain required delivery records in accordance with AAA7 requirements.

  • Ensure proper food temperatures are maintained during delivery routes.

  • Assist with Summer Rural Meals Program Farmers Market activities as assigned.

  • Maintain required certifications and attend mandated training.

  • Perform routine kitchen equipment cleaning and maintenance.

  • Adhere to all food safety guidelines and procedures.

Inventory, Cleaning, and Stocking

Estimated Effort: 40%

  • Maintain cleanliness of meal carriers for home-delivered, Early Childhood, and Summer Food Service programs.

  • Complete Senior Center cleaning tasks as assigned.

  • Assist with dish cleaning and sanitization for Early Childhood programs.

  • Assist with stocking supplies and maintaining inventory as directed.

Agency Service

Estimated Effort: 10%

  • Participate in CAC committee assignments and agency service duties as assigned.

  • Serve as a liaison between clients and Senior Programs staff.

Minimum Requirements

Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.

Job-Related Experience:

  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License

  • Clean driving record

  • Reliable transportation

  • Insurable under agency policy

  • Completion of required program-related and criminal background checks

  • Ability to read road maps and use GPS

People Management Experience:
Not required; must demonstrate a friendly, professional, and courteous demeanor.

Licenses, Certifications, and Accreditations:
None required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current ServSafe Certification

  • Food service experience

  • Delivery driving experience

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office

Working Conditions

This position operates in a kitchen and delivery environment. Duties require standing for long periods, lifting up to 40 pounds, working in hot areas, and driving in variable weather conditions. May be exposed to communicable diseases and environmental conditions. Work is fast-paced and physically demanding.

The Senior Programs Driver/Nutrition Aide at Pike CAC will work closely with the Senior Programs Manager, Senior Programs Lead Cook, Senior Programs Assistant, Senior Nutrition Assistant, and Senior Programs Assistant Cook to provide vital, high-quality senior programs to Pike County.


Essential Functions


Functional Area: Central Kitchen Operations

Responsibilities, Deliverables, Outcomes and Expectations

  • Operation of agency vehicles as assigned by Senior Programs Manager. May be required to use personal vehicle when
    agency vehicles are not available.
  • Complete thorough daily pre-trip inspection of vehicle, and report any vehicle defects, damages, accidents, mechanical
    issues, etc. to Senior Programs Manager.
  • Maintaining cleanliness inside and out of agency vehicle assigned.
  • Report hazardous road conditions to Senior Programs Manager.
  • Assist with loading and unloading meals/containers at the central kitchen for all meal programs assigned.
  • Assist with packing hot/cold components for home-delivered meal delivery as assigned.
  • Assist with packing Early Childhood and Summer Food Service Program meals.
  • Prepare hot/cold carries for Home-Delivered, Early Childhood, and Summer Food Service hot meals as assigned.
  • Deliver all Senior Programs home-delivered meals in Pike County and surrounding counties within a specified time frame.
  • Deliver all Early Childhood meals to site assigned by the Senior Programs Manager and assist Early Childhood Meal Time Aide with unloading containers.
  • Pickup and return Early Childhood dishes as assigned by Senior Programs Manager.
  • Collect donations from clients on the Title III program and return the donations to the Senior Programs Manager or his/her designee.
  • Maintain records of deliveries required by AAA7, and handle confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Ensure proper temperatures are maintained during delivery route.
  • Deliver all Summer Food Service Program meals to sites assigned by the Senior Programs Manager or designee.
  • Assist with the Summer Rural Meals Program Farmers Market as assigned by the Senior Programs Manager.
  • Maintain certifications and attend required training per Senior Programs policy, Food Safety guidance, and funding requirements.
  • Perform regular kitchen equipment maintenance and cleaning as assigned.
