Job Description:
The Civil Group is seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the execution of commercial civil/site construction projects throughout the Triangle area. This role works directly with Project Managers to coordinate field operations, manage documentation, and help drive projects to successful completion.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in civil construction with exposure to utilities, grading, stormwater systems, and municipal coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist PMs with day-to-day project management tasks from preconstruction through closeout
• Track RFIs, submittals, and change orders and ensure timely follow-up
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, and inspectors
• Support scheduling and help maintain project timelines
• Review plans/specs and help identify conflicts or scope gaps
• Assist with quantity takeoffs and pricing for change orders
• Communicate with municipalities (City of Raleigh, NCDOT, etc.) for inspections and approvals
• Help manage project documentation including as-builts, certifications, and closeout packages
• Participate in site visits and progress meetings as needed
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or graduating soon)
• 0–3 years of experience in construction (internship experience is a plus)
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
• Willingness to learn and grow within the civil/site construction industry
Preferred (but not required):
• Exposure to sitework, utilities, or heavy civil construction
• Familiarity with reading civil plans and specs
• Experience with project management software
Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
