The Student Life Manager for the Urban Male Leadership Program (UMLP) at Lehman College supports the academic, personal, and professional development of students who identify as men and women of color. Under the supervision of the Director of the UMLP, the Student Life Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing student programming, managing operations, and collaborating with campus and external partners to promote student success and persistence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, implementation, and assessment of leadership development programs, workshops, and activities aligned with the UMLP mission.
  • Provide individualized academic and personal support to UMLP participants, with a working knowledge of CUNY’s academic advising policies and procedures.
  • Use advising platforms such as DegreeWorks, CUNYFirst, Navigate, and Brightspace to track student progress, schedule appointments, and document engagement.
  • Supervise and mentor peer leaders, graduate assistants, and student workers in collaboration with the Director.
  • Assist in managing program budgets, procurement, and reporting using CUNY fiscal tools including CUNYBuy and RFCUNY procurement systems.
  • Support fundraising and development initiatives, including identifying potential funding sources, assisting with proposal writing, and maintaining relationships with donors and partners.
  • Contribute to data collection and program assessment, including mid-year and annual reports.
  • Serve as a liaison to other Lehman College departments and represent UMLP at campuswide events, advisory boards, and CUNY BMI initiatives.
  • Assist in planning large-scale events such as the annual leadership retreat, graduation ceremony, and student conferences.
  • Participate in strategic planning UMLP’s growth, fundraising efforts, and innovation in programming and outreach.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and six years related experience required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Social Work, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of six years of experience in higher education, student affairs, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with underrepresented student populations, especially students who identify as men of color.
  • Familiarity with academic advising best practices and ability to use relevant advising and academic technology platforms (e.g., DegreeWorks, CUNYFirst, Navigate, Brightspace).
  • Experience with budget monitoring, procurement, and reporting within higher education. Familiarity with CUNYBuy and RFCUNY systems is a strong plus.
  • Experience supporting or leading fundraising or grant development efforts in an educational or nonprofit setting.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends for events and retreats

Salary commensurate with education and experience.$83,681-$94,909
