FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Urban Policy and Planning at Hunter College seeks a Doctoral Lecturer for the Fall 2026 semester. We seek candidates combining training and experience in urban planning, urban design, and architecture. Experience teaching history and theory of planning, introduction to urban design, and land use is preferred. The candidate must have experience and be able to teach planning studios to graduate students for real-world clients. The teaching responsibility for Doctoral Lecturers is eight classes per year. After five years of successful teaching, the candidate is eligible for continuous reappointment. No research is expected for Doctoral Lecturers, although departmental service is expected.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. degree in planning and architecture is required. Also required are the ability to teach effectively, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and the ability to work cooperatively for the good of the institution.
Compensation
Compensation will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience within the approved range for this title (currently $70,642-$76,310).
CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will increase by 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
