What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-Time Heavy Equipment Operator position at The City of Dalton?
The City of Dalton (Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority) has an immediate opening for a heavy equipment operator. This is a full-time position at the Old Dixie Hwy. landfill located at 4189 Old Dixie Hwy.
A high school diploma or GED is required and two years previous experience involving the use of medium and heavy equipment. Valid Georgia driver’s license required. Georgia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred. Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience. Typical work week is 40-48 hours, Monday thru Friday, 9:30 am to 6 pm and every third Saturday from 7 am until 3 pm. Candidate must be at least 21 years old, pass a drug test and background check. Work will involve operating heavy construction equipment, i.e.; landfill compactors, bulldozers, track loaders, scrapers, rubber-tired wheel loaders, water tankers and trucks, articulated dump trucks, motor graders and excavators.
