About the Role
The Intake Coordinator manages incoming referrals, verifies insurance eligibility, and ensures accurate documentation for patient services. Acting as the first point of contact for referral sources, this role supports efficient order processing while maintaining compliance and delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls, provide pricing, order updates, ETAs, and moderate qualification details.
- Process and delegate faxes promptly; maintain accurate team rotation for faxes and priority orders.
- Monitor and update personal DME box/folder in Outlook; review and distribute incoming emails/faxes.
- Review and assess clinical documentation; pull additional documentation from Epic, Navi, Cerner, Salesforce, and other portals.
- Create patient accounts, input demographics, and upload required documentation.
- Verify insurance eligibility, obtain accurate financial information via company programs, websites, and calls; update accounts accordingly.
- Run same/similar checks on all straight Medicare accounts.
- Utilize hospital/facility programs to keep referrals updated; mark cancellations and notify referral sources.
- Accept and post payments to accounts.
- Review hospital program accounts for status and archive as needed.
- Assist coworkers and provide team support as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Proficient in computer systems and data entry.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Entry-level; no prior experience required.
As part of Evernorth Health Services, this role supports CarepathRx within
our Pharmacy and Care Delivery organization. Our team focuses on
specialty pharmacy and infusion services in partnership with hospitals and
health systems.
If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
