Essential Functions

Work Environment
The work is completed outside at the construction site, and can include renovating occupied facilities such as hospitals, labs, nursing homes, etc. The position is often exposed to sounds and loud noises, such as construction equipment. The job requires they wear protective equipment when on the construction site (Hardhats and safety glasses). Temperatures and conditions may vary depending on the weather and seasons.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and able to talk and hear other employee talking. The employee must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Expected Hours of Work
Full time position, occasional extended hours and weekends may apply.
Travel
Must have reliable transportation. Must be willing to travel 60 miles a day dependent on project location relative to where the employee lives.

- Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
- Assists with loading and unloading materials and equipment, distributing them to the appropriate locations as directed.
- Uses required tools to complete assigned tasks on the job site.
- Follows instructions from supervisors and implements construction plans.
- Assists other trades workers on the job site.
- Directs traffic during roadway construction, as required.
- Builds and takes down scaffolding or temporary structures, as required.
- Assists with maintenance of construction tools or equipment.
- Keeps immediate working area clean. Must use broom and wheelbarrows and follow material procedures.
- Identifies and reports safety hazards. Takes all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
- Demonstrates safe working practices and complies with all safety requirements.
- Completes all required and assigned training for this role.

Required Education And Experience
- No minimum experience required.
- Union membership required.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One (1) or more years of experience in commercial construction.
- Must understand safety rules and tool/equipment instructions.
- Have the ability to take measurements and make calculations.
- Have good communication skills both orally and in writing.
- Must pass any skills tests as required by the jobsite.
- Ability to problem solve when errors occur.
- Keep tools and workspace organized.
- Must be conscious of time schedules and deadlines.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Must be able to tolerate heights without fear.
- Must have own hand tools, power tools to be provided by Christman.
