POSITION PURPOSE: To assess the educational needs of each student in care, to monitor their academic progress and to plan and provide enrichment activities to help them meet their education goals.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full time, Non-Exempt
PAY: $21.15/hr based on experience
JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s degree in education or other closely related field or a minimum of 5 years working with children in the education field. (Preference will be given to a certified teacher.)
- Experience developing and implementing programming for children.
- Ability to work with other professionals, particularly in an interdisciplinary team approach.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess the educational needs of each child in care, with emphasis on children in the emotional support and assessment center, and help develop programs to support the child’s educational success.
- Will address issues with enrollment of children or with the school.
- Monitor academic and behavioral progress of Children’s Home children and youth in school including keeping their green notebooks updated.
- Advocate for children that need educational testing and plans and ensure that accommodations and/or supports are in place.
- Develop and maintain an education portfolio and ensure that it is part of the aftercare plan
- Document services children, youth and young adults pregnant and parenting have in the education system.

General Qualifications for All Employees of The Children’s Home of Lubbock:
- Must be 21 years of age per licensing standards.
- Be able to read, write and communicate with co-workers, medical personnel and other persons necessary to care for the young adult’s needs.
- Have a Valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Exhibit behavior and health status that does not present a danger to young adult in care.
- Meet the requirements of licensing standards in regards to a criminal background check.
- Be physically, mentally and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform assigned tasks.

- Complete a notarized Licensing Affidavit for Applicants for Employment
Applicants must submit the last five years of employment history.
