Founded in 1876, The Children's Home of Kingston provides a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for youth and families. Our mission is to strengthen their ability to make positives choices through education, structure, and compassionate care. We are currently seeking an NYS Certified Physical Education Teacher to help continue our legacy of making a lasting impact in the lives of young people. Our school Grove St Academy is a NYSED Certified 853 special education school located on the campus of the Children's Home of Kingston in Kingston, NY. Grove St Academy provides necessary educational services for both day and residential students age range 8-21, grades 4th -12th. Grove Street Academy specializes in small classroom settings and utilizes project-based learning on campus and in the community. We use a Trauma System Therapy approach throughout the campus and provide the students and their families with a system of support and interventions that are not available within the public education sectors.
Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the School Administrator, it ensures a Physical Education (PE)/Health Teacher for students in grades 7-12 at a special education school in New York. The Physical Education (PE)/Health Teacher will have a strong commitment to promoting physical activity, healthy lifestyles, and positive behavior in a supportive and inclusive environment. This role also involves leading the school-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program.

Qualifications
Minimum:
- NYS Teaching Certification in Physical Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities.
Knowledge of and experience with PBIS or other behavior management systems.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Salary : $62,500 - $63,000
