The Children’s Council helps Lancaster County children and families thrive by creating programs that support their health, development, and well-being. Our SPARK afterschool program gives middle school students a safe, engaging space to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Do you enjoy staying organized, supporting a team, and helping things run smoothly behind the scenes? The Administrative Assistant plays a key role in keeping daily operations efficient and organized at The Children’s Council.
Working closely with leadership and program staff, you’ll support day-to-day administrative functions, maintain accurate records, and help ensure our programs operate effectively. Your work will directly contribute to our ability to serve children and families in the community.
This is a great opportunity for college students, paraprofessionals, or anyone interested in nonprofit work, administration, or community-based organizations.
Schedule: Tuesday–Thursday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (24 hours per week; some flexibility available)
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Provide general administrative support to staff and leadership
- Manage data entry, attendance records, and program documentation
- Answer phones, respond to emails, and assist with communication efforts
- Organize files, maintain records, and ensure accurate documentation
- Assist with scheduling meetings, appointments, and events
- Prepare materials, reports, and basic correspondence
- Support coordination of meetings, trainings, and community events
- Help maintain an organized, professional office environment
- Pitch in on special projects and other duties as needed

REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- College students or individuals with coursework in business, administration, or related fields encouraged to apply
- Previous administrative, office, or customer service experience preferred
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY LEVEL
Primarily sedentary with occasional movement, including filing, setting up materials, and light office organization
