CLINICAL INTERN | | POSITION SUMMARY: An internship is an unpaid clinical position. Internships are typically nine months or one year depending on graduate program requirement. An intern provides counseling and related services to children, youth, and families. Approximately 60% of this time is allocated to direct client contact; and 40% consists of supervision, training, case management, and administrative duties. Reports to assigned supervisor and program manager. | POSITION STATUS: Exempt | TECHNOLOGIES: Microsoft Office Suite, Carelogic | Accountable and responsible for the following results: - Provides all services utilizing a strengths-based, family-focused, and integrated approach.
- Will foster a trauma-informed approach with treatment team members when discussing client needs

- Provides counseling and related services to children, youth and families as assigned.

- Demonstrates teamwork and open communication.
- Provides services in a manner that expedites the meeting of contract requirements and program outcomes.
- Maintains care, welfare, safety and security of the children by reporting conditions which are or could be considered safety hazards
- Assist Childcare staff in the management of children’s behavior, when assigned.
- Maintains appropriate personal boundaries with youth and families served at The Children’s Center of Hamden, Inc.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
| MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS | - Bachelor’s Degree
- Enrollment in a master’s degree program for counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field
- Previous mental health or human service experience
- Experience with diverse client groups
- Ability to work in an unstructured and unpredictable setting, ability to adapt to change
- Knowledge of child development.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
