Community Ambassador

The T2 Community Ambassador- Street Outreach Member (CA) performs daily street level outreach, engaging the public outdoors around COVID-19 education and prevention. Workscope includes Testing, Tracing and vaccination information; dissemination of COVID-19 literature; and distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as face masks and sanitizer. The Ambassador would lead the street outreach designated to occur across Queens, but may include short term deployment into the other boroughs. Priority locations include high-traffic areas, testing sites, and other areas where community members naturally congregate. The ambassador uses a culturally informed approach to build trust and respect to facilitate the free sharing of information. Community Ambassador reports to their Supervisor or Manager.

Essential Functions:

• Conducts street-level community outreach throughout Queens, and as needed throughout the 5 boroughs of NYC, to educate and provide guidance on COVID-19 testing, tracing, prevention, vaccines, and related information.

• Distributes PPE and literature via outreach, tabling, and other scheduled events.

• Places posters during street-level outreach and canvassing efforts.

• Identifies barriers to community outreach efforts and appropriately seeks input from supervisor to resolve issues that are impediments to success immediately.

• Meets daily metrics for distribution and daily data reporting.

• Participates in trainings, meetings, and feedback sessions to improve outcomes.

• Perform other duties as related and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma, equivalency, or combination with experience.

• Excellent oral communication skills.

• Outgoing, collaborative, culturally sensitive, and approachable.

• Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.

• Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines, and multi-task.

• Basic computer skills including data entry.

• Preferred- Languages other than English spoken.
