Job Summary
The Childcare Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the childcare center, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. This role involves managing staff, developing educational programs, and maintaining compliance with state regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education administration and experience working with students in a child care or educational setting.
Duties
- Lead and manage the child care program, ensuring high-quality educational experiences for children.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum that promote learning and development.
- Supervise and support staff, providing training and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding child care facilities.
- Foster positive relationships with parents and families, addressing their concerns and feedback effectively.
- Conduct regular assessments of children's progress and program effectiveness.
- Collaborate with community organizations to enhance program offerings and resources.
- Manage administrative tasks including , scheduling, and record-keeping.
Qualifications
A director shall have attained one of the following qualification levels:
(1) A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children.
(2) A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 2 years of experience with children.
(3) An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children.
(4) An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 4 years of experience with children.
- Strong understanding of higher education teaching methodologies is a plus.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a positive learning environment that fosters growth and development for both children and staff.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in early childhood education practices.
