Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression of the practice
- Schedule appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such Intergy.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and assist with billing processes including medical collection efforts
- Manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages
- Maintain patient records by updating medical information, reviewing documentation, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with medical administrative support tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing medical records using systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Support clinical staff by coordinating patient intake, preparing charts, and managing appointment reminders
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office environment or healthcare setting, preferably as a medical receptionist or front desk clerk
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing processes
- Ability to handle sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA standards and maintain confidentiality at all times
- Excellent customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and clear communication abilities
- Bilingual skills are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred, along with familiarity using dental management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft
