What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Counselor (Part-Time) position at The Catholic High School of Baltimore?
The Catholic High School of Baltimore is seeking a Part-Time School Counselor for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate, organized, and student-centered professional dedicated to supporting the social, emotional, and personal well-being of students. This position reports directly to the Director of Guidance and ultimately to the Principal.
While this is currently a part-time position, we are willing to consider a full-time position for the right candidate based on qualifications, experience, and the needs of the school.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the social, emotional, and personal well-being of students in grades 9–12
- Meeting individually with students to provide guidance, support, and problem-solving assistance related to school, peer relationships, stress, and personal challenges
- Responding appropriately to student crises and collaborating with administration, families, and outside professionals when necessary
- Developing and facilitating small student group sessions focused on social, emotional, and personal well-being topics when necessary
- Serving as a supportive and approachable presence within the school community while fostering positive student relationships grounded in professionalism and appropriate boundaries
- Collaborating with administration, faculty, staff, and parents to address student needs and create a supportive school climate
- Maintaining accurate and confidential student records in accordance with school policy and ethical counseling standards
- Serving as a member of the Principal’s Student Life Team
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field, preferably with a focus on with a focus on adolescent development
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Sound judgment in decision making
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and crisis intervention skills
- Strong ethical judgment and understanding of legal responsibilities in school counseling
