What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse - Christ the King position at The Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg?
Christ the King Catholic School is seeking a full-time School Nurse for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates should be able to fulfill the following essential duties and responsibilities:
Specific Job Duties
Clinic Triage
- Review Renweb for students that do and do not have permission to treat
- Assess students as they present to the clinic and administer first aid as needed
- Administer OTC meds as per documented parental consent
- Administer Prescription medications as per documented Doctors order and Parental consent
- Review expiration dates and contact parents as needed
- Call parents on all head injuries and all EC4 and K visits
- Use judgement about calling parents on other student visits
- Order supplies as needed to restock clinic
Teacher Support
- Collaborate with school counselors and with teachers about student patterns of clinic visits
- Create, review, update and distribute care plans for students with medical diagnoses and/or allergies
- Prepare medical bags for all field trips to include Prescription and emergency medications for students with medical diagnoses and/or allergies and boo-boo bags
- Provide teachers with a small supply of first aid materials for classroom use
- Coordinate and schedule CPR recertification
Health and Safety
- Check AEDs monthly for battery and expiration dates on pads
- Order replacement AED pads 1 month prior to expiration date
- Order supplies as needed to restock clinic
- Initiate accident reports and forward to Administration
- Track attendance doctors note/parent contact after 3 absences
- Track illness (Covid, Flu, Strep)
- Count controlled medications (with parent or second staff member) and document the number of tablets provided by parent.
- Collect health forms for EC4 and new students; Review health forms for K and 7th grades (report to FDOH due October 1st)
- Coordinate and schedule Flu shots
- Schedule and assist FDOH nurse with Scoliosis screening
