Position Overview
Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School is seeking a dynamic, engaging, and dedicated Middle School Science Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will inspire students in grades 6 through 8 to explore the natural world through scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and hands-on learning, while encouraging active participation and a deeper appreciation for science.
This role supports our mission of forming students who grow academically, spiritually, and morally in a Christ-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach daily Science classes to middle school students (Grades 68), following curriculum standards aligned with diocesan and state guidelines
- Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons in life science, earth science, and physical science
- Incorporate hands-on experiments and labs to enhance student understanding
- Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific reasoning skills
- Integrate technology into instruction
- Foster a classroom environment rooted in respect, compassion, and Catholic/Christian values
- Assess student progress through tests, lab reports, projects, and class participation
- Collaborate with the elementary science teachers and administration to ensure a cohesive K-8 science program
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and behavior
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events
- Model professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to the schools mission and values
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Science Education, or a related field (required); Masters degree preferred
- Valid teaching certificate or willingness to obtain one (state certification or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of scientific concepts and instructional best practices
- Previous experience teaching middle school students preferred
- Ability to engage and motivate young adolescents through interactive and hands-on learning
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
- Passion for Catholic education and a commitment to the schools mission and values
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Level 2 background screening and safe environment training (as required by diocesan policy)
