Position Overview
Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School is seeking a passionate, faith-filled, and dedicated Middle School Religion Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will inspire and guide students in grades 6 through 8 in their spiritual formation, helping them deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith while developing strong moral character, critical thinking skills, and a personal relationship with God.
This role is central to our schools mission of integrating faith, academics, and service in a nurturing, Christ-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach daily Religion classes to middle school students (Grades 68), following the approved curriculum and diocesan/parish standards
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons on Scripture, Church history, Sacraments, moral theology, prayer, and Christian living
- Integrate faith into broader school life, including weekly school Masses, prayer services, retreats, and service-learning projects
- Foster a classroom environment rooted in respect, compassion, and Catholic/Christian values
- Assess student progress through assignments, projects, presentations, and reflective writing
- Collaborate with the elementary Religion teachers, religious coordinator, and administration to ensure a cohesive K-8 faith formation program
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and spiritual growth
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events
- Serve as a positive role model of the Catholic faith and Gospel values both in and outside the classroom
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in theology, Religious Studies, Education, or a related field (required); Masters degree preferred
- Valid teaching certificate or willingness to obtain one (state certification or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of Catholic/Christian doctrine, Scripture, and Church teachings
- Previous experience teaching middle school students preferred
- Demonstrated ability to connect with young adolescents and make faith relevant to their daily lives
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
- Passion for Catholic education and a commitment to the schools mission and values
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Level 2 background screening and safe environment training (as required by diocesan policy)
