TCAVI is seeking a REFERRALS SPECIALIST in the CLINICAL SUPPORT department of our cardiology practice. This position is located in Gainesville, FL.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Referral Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of the patient referral process including both incoming and outgoing referrals , acquiring and verifying third party information for referrals, obtaining referral appointments, and tracking referrals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
EXPERIENCE: Two years experience, preferably in health care setting. Knowledge of medical terminology desirable. Word processing and computer experience.
SKILL: Solid customer services principles and techniques.
ENVIRONMENTAL / WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent telephone contact with patients. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Some exposure to communicable diseases.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Work requires hand dexterity for telephone and office machine operation, stooping and bending to files and supplies, sitting for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity for using a calculator and computer keyboard. Occasional stress from dealing with upset patients and/or emergency situations.

- Answer incoming calls and properly route or assist caller.
- Schedule faxed and phone referrals.
- Follow up on all unreachable referrals via phone and/or letter.
- Obtain patient’s medical history at the time of scheduling.
- Mail new patient packets to all new patients at the time of scheduling.
- Maintain incoming faxes and distribute appropriately.
- Monitor and correct physician’s clinical schedules according to the IVC guidelines and vacation/meeting schedules.
- Assist with filing of charts.
- Complete all medical records request.
- Scan medical records needed by our Gainesville Office.
- Assist with front desk duties during lunch breaks and absenteeism.
- Assist with processing transcribed documents.
- Call & fax results for the nuclear patients as instructed by the physician.
