JOB DESCRIPTION – Line Cook and Prep Cook
We are HIRING! The new Canyon Grille is looking for a Line Cook and Prep Cook.
Our back of house operation includes a combined role of prep cook and line cook.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares & handles food in accordance with the Board of Health
- Preps food according to the designated station's prep list
- Prepares ALL menu items within recipe guidelines and par levels in a timely manner
- Communicates shortage of menu items to Chef immediately
- Executes all kitchen orders according to recipe specifications
- Prepares all ingredients needed for designated station daily, following Chef's prep and par lists
- Complies with safety guidelines and minimum age requirements when handling kitchen equipment and utensils
- Follow all portion and quality standards
- Maintains and stocks designated station, freezers, refrigerators and storeroom with food products daily: follows proper rotation system and notifies chef to any discrepancies or shortages
- Labels and dates all food products in storage and refrigeration areas appropriately
- Ensures all products are stored or disposed of properly at the end of the night
- Cleans food preparation equipment and work areas according to health and safety guidelines; cleans counter of tables
- Places dishes in dishwasher and cleans pots in sink as needed
- Stocks dishes, glassware and silverware as needed
- Adheres to all restaurant policies and procedures paying attention to health and/or safety requirements; communicates and concerns to management
- Communicates with servers in a professional manner
- Performs all closing duties of the kitchen daily as determined by supervisor
Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent customer service, including patience and a friendly demeanor
- Capability to learn quickly and memorize menu details
- Ability to read recipes and prepare food based on restaurant standards
- Ability to stage and time food preparation to allow entire order to be delivered at the same time
- Exceptional organization and time management
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability and willingness to assist team members
- Knowledge of foodservice regulations and proper food handling procedures
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Willing to work flexible work schedules that include nights and weekends
- Physically able to be on their feet for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds unassisted
