We are HIRING!
The new Canyon Grille is looking for Hosts to join our Front of House team!
Hosts are the first and last impression of our restaurant. This role is responsible for warmly welcoming guests, managing seating flow, and supporting servers and bartenders to ensure a smooth and memorable dining experience.
Responsibilities
- Greets guests promptly, warmly, and professionally upon arrival
- Manages wait lists and seating arrangements to maximize guest comfort and service efficiency
- Escorts guests to tables and presents menus
- Uses the Lightspeed POS system to:
- Track table status and seating availability
- Open, assign, and transfer tables to servers as needed
- Enter guest notes or seating preferences when applicable
- Communicates effectively with servers, bartenders, and management regarding table status, pacing, and guest needs
- Assists with coordinating large parties and special seating requests
- Answers guest questions about the restaurant, menu items, and amenities
- Supports front-of-house staff as needed during peak service times
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of the host stand, entryway, and waiting areas
- Assists with light side work and opening/closing procedures as assigned
- Helps create a welcoming, upbeat atmosphere for guests and staff alike
Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
- Strong communication and active listening skills
- Ability to stay organized and calm in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to assist others
- Ability to learn and confidently use the LightSpeed POS system, including:
- Navigating table maps and floor plans
- Understanding basic ticket flow and server sections
- Basic comfort with tablets or touchscreen systems
- Attention to detail when entering guest notes or managing seating flow
- Comfortable standing for extended periods
- Willingness to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Prior restaurant or hospitality experience is not required
- Ability to bend and stoop, lift 25 pounds overhead
