Burton Center is looking for motivated individuals to take on the role of a direct support professional. This position is at the Lexington Day Program located in Lexington, SC! This is a full-time position on Monday - Friday from 7:45am - 4:15pm

Job Description:
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will implement effective vocational training programs for adults with disabilities and special needs and assists individuals with self-help skills through direct care.
Direct care for individuals can include:
- Assisting individuals with self-help skills (i.e. toileting, eating, learning etc.)
- Implementing facilitated individual plans and goals
- Monitoring individuals and completing monthly progress reports on all objectives and personal goals
- Documenting daily payroll sheets of work accomplished
- Assisting in the evaluation and placement of individuals for various jobs or skills
- Transporting individuals to and from Burton Center and on field trips using a Burton Center vehicle
- Documenting daily van maintenance, mileage, and relevant information in the vehicle accountability form
- Supervising individuals during program breaks, lunch, and all special activities
- Assisting with extra-curricular activities
- Providing one on one care to individuals if that level of care is required and following the plan of care of the individual including feeding, toileting, and any other needed support
- Attending initial Burton Center staff orientation, in-services and workshops as appropriate to enhance job performance
- Administering medications if required
- Providing appropriate and accurate documentation during each shift through Therap
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or ability to pass a competency test
- Valid SC Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Clear oral and written communication skills
- Lift 25lbs frequently and 50lbs occasionally
- Ability to care and advocate for others
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and squat
- Ability to stand or walk for long period of time
- Ability to drive and transport individuals including wheelchair bound.
