Maintenance Worker Job Description
Classification: Non-exempt, Hourly
Hours per week: 40
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00-3:30
Pay Range: $17-20/hour

Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical preferred
- Experience with general maintenance, repair, or construction work
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with faculty, staff, and students in a school setting
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Successful completion of background check required
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform routine checks on building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) to address issues before breakdowns occur.
- Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and maintenance materials; maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas.
- Assist with lawn care, landscaping, debris removal, and seasonal campus needs (weather preparation, holiday set up, summer turnover).
- Support emergency response efforts (power outages, leaks, storm clean up).
- Perform general repairs including drywall patching, furniture repair, lighting replacement, and minor plumbing or electrical work.
- Set up and take down equipment, furniture, and spaces for events, assemblies, and campus activities.
- Assist with safety checks, remove hazards, and support campus security and emergency preparedness efforts.
- Identify maintenance concerns or safety risks and report them promptly to the team lead or Director of Facilities.
