What You'll Do
- Lead all aspects of mechanical design, engineering, and specifications for assigned projects from concept through completion.
- Design and engineer HVAC, plumbing, and related mechanical building systems for commercial and institutional facilities.
- Develop accurate schematic design solutions for complex prospective projects within expedited timeframes.
- Organize and manage the engineering effort required to facilitate projects through all phases of design and construction.
- Direct and oversee designers and engineers assigned to project teams.
- Review and adjust calculations, drawings, and specifications as needed to ensure project success.
- Collaborate with project teams to meet schedule milestones and maintain project budgets.
- Perform site surveys, field investigations, and equipment assessments.
- Coordinate engineering support during construction and assist with project execution as needed.
- Maintain awareness of project scope, engineering budgets, and construction budgets.
- Communicate scope, budget, or schedule changes to leadership in a timely manner.
- Assist in developing and maintaining drafting, design, and engineering standards.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Minimum of 7 years of mechanical engineering experience with a consulting engineering firm, mechanical contractor, or similar MEP-related environment.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred, but not required.
- Strong understanding of mechanical/HVAC/plumbing design, engineering, and construction methods for commercial and institutional facilities.
- Proficiency with Trane TRACE 700 HVAC Design and Analysis software or equivalent.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit required.
- Familiarity with project management/construction software such as Procore, SharePoint, and Bluebeam Revu.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly collaborative with the ability to work both independently and within team environments.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to travel to worksites up to 25% of the time.
