What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Coordinator position at The Bowery Mission?
The Bowery Mission is a holistic, Christian faith-based organization dedicated to serving the homeless by providing compassionate care and life transformation services. As a key member of the Operations team, the Logistics Coordinator will support the front door gift giving and logistics process by being a collaborative service partner to our Men’s, Women’s, and Youth program leaders, our fundraising staff, and our wide variety of donors/volunteers. The Logistics Coordinator operates as a front of house representative for in-kind donation receiving, storage, and
distribution. He/she is responsible for implementing systems and processes for tracking and reporting donations, as well as the physical organization of storage areas. It is essential that this Coordinator be able to create and maintain order in a rapidly changing environment
Preferred Schedule: Tuesday -Saturday 8:00am-4:30pm
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Customer Service– Serve guests, volunteers, staff, and partners. Coordinate incoming and outbound gifts in kind (GIK) to maximize operations and donated resources.
- GIK Systems - Carry out processes for tracking, organizing, and reporting donations. Comply with all regulations related to GIK recordkeeping. Maintain physical organization of storage areas, making improvements based on goals and experience. Help maximize distribution of donations. Recommend process improvements, distribution ideas, etc.
- Volunteers – Utilize best practices for volunteer involvement. Give input on volunteer needs for GIK assistance. Provide guidance to volunteers, keeping in mind their level of familiarity.
- Team Operations – Keep team informed of GIK details that affect their roles. Attend regular team meetings and other staff meetings as needed.
Reports to: Logistics Manager
Requirements:
- Embraces the organization's Statement of Faith
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years experience in logistics or related field
- High integrity that builds trust with internal and external stakeholders
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills
- Able to safely bend, lift, and squat at least 50 lbs., and able to stand for long periods of time
- Tech savvy. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; mobile technology (installing applications, using email on a smartphone, texting, etc.)
Preferred:
- Associate's degree
- Valid and clean NYS drivers license; experience driving a cargo van
- Inventory management system experience
Salary range (commensurate with experience & education): $45,000 to $48,000 per year
