As Commissioning Director for The Boldt Company you will lead the process of developing a data center specific Commissioning Program. You will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of MEP critical systems and their integration for operations. You will serve as an ambassador on behalf of the company leading collaborate with data center architects, engineers, construction managers, network engineers, data center operations teams, 3rd party commissioning agents and trade partners to ensure all project stakeholders are bought in and understand their role in the project specific commissioning program. You are expected to drive excellence in the coordination of the quality completions, commissioning schedule integration into the master project schedule and ensure alignment with both CFCI and OFCI supply chain managers for offsite commissioning activities. You will also have the opportunity and responsibility to streamline and improve all aspects of the quality completion and commissioning process steps to ensure timely turnover of critical systems and spaces to the specific project owner.

The employee is required to be able to effectively communicate while on the job site and throughout the completion of duties.
The working conditions of this position requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to maintain safety and prevent exposure to harmful materials. The environment for which this position functions may be exposed to prolonged loud noises and may contain scents and fragrances. May be requested to work overtime and weekends.

- Responsible for directing the development and administration of the data center commissioning program for individual projects/buildings and multiple building campuses that require overall integration.
- Create and/or maintain best practices to identify and incorporate quality and cost-effective solutions.
- Collaborate with the owners contracted Commissioning Agent assigned to a specific Data Center project or Program.
- Development of Commissioning Procedures and Standards.
- Construction site kickoff and management of Commissioning program to ensure compliance with all stakeholders both internal and external.
- Directs the project Commissioning process including quality, scope, safety and schedule.
- Regularly reviews Construction Progress, QA/QC readiness, Commissioning progress, issues & resolution thereof, and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics to report to management.
- Manage client representatives and partners to define and align on scope, schedule, safety and budget.
- Attend scheduled owner/architect/contractor (OAC) and other project meetings, and report as necessary.
- Report Project Progress on scope, schedule, and budget weekly or as required.
- Responsible for developing, managing, and reporting on health of the Commissioning schedule.
- Manage the Commissioning process for assigned projects and/or programs of various Clients.
- Ensuring that all stakeholders are heard and engaged in the daily, weekly and monthly Commissioning meetings.
- Reporting of the Commissioning process to management on a regular basis as driven by schedule and project needs.
- Work Independently to drive the Commissioning Program development and associated processes.
- Manage data center commissioning project delivery strategy in alignment of specific deliverables and program requirements of specific owner.
- Directs project commissioning strategy and ensuring consistent, safe, and compliant execution.
- Provides technical leadership, driving process innovation, and embedding best practices into commissioning workflows.
- Directs the creation of commissioning plans, checklists, schedules, and protocols; manages implementation and usage of systems like CxAlloy across campus buildings and ensures project protocol adherence.
- Maintains record of lessons learned, preparing comprehensive reports, and ensuring operational teams are professionally trained.
- Monitors the documentation of testing and inspections related to quality and commissioning.
- Coordinates with design and construction teams to integrate commissioning requirements into project workflows.
- Refine practices/policies and develop methods/techniques for driving solutions including development of commissioning procedures.
- Provides input into a long-term delivery strategy and incorporates requirements into the project execution plans.
- Is proficient in all aspects of Commissioning Levels L0 through L5. Drives the coordination and provides direction of the difference between Trade Partner activity level of commissioning and the support of the Client CxA commissioning activities; specifically, L4-L5.
- Provide Vendor oversight and performance management (Scorecard driven).
- Coordinates meetings and activities of vendor project managers including integration of lessons learned.
- Prepares Requests for Proposal, Project Expenditure Reports, and other project approval tools & templates.
- Work with Project Management team to incorporate the Commissioning Program requirements into trade partner contracts as well as ensuring communication of commissioning expectations is conveyed and understood during the buyout process.
- Serves as an ambassador of Quality, Safety and Commissioning best practices in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Contributes to innovation in execution of design, installation, start-up, and ensures commissioning requirements are embedded in workflows while maintaining best in class safety.

- Lead implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) and Built-in Quality (BiQ) process for the project.
- Lead design studies, provide recommendations for materials and methods, and develop cost estimates.
- Lead the Boldt Production System (BPS). This includes master scheduling, production strategies, make work ready, weekly, and daily planning and production tracking.
- Lead subcontractor trade coordination meetings, look ahead planning meetings and submittal review meetings.
- Lead the supply chain procurement process to assure that it aligns with project schedule.
- Lead the process to maintain up-to-date production visuals and site logistics plans.
- Control costs and enhance revenues to achieve project goals. Manage the project overall budget.
- Analyze and control expenditures to conform to our project target budget requirements.
- Recommend or approve budgets and expenditures and implement ways to improve operational efficiencies.
- Provide timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the project both internally and externally; continuously review operating performance against plans and prior periods, including current progress towards the project target, current production, forecast cost to completion, contracting status, operating expenses, cash flow management, and profitability.
- Oversee detailed contract item lists including all significant items required for the construction of the project. Develop trade scope of work documents for bid packages, major material, and equipment purchases.
- Oversee scopes of work and complete subcontracts and purchase orders.
- Oversee risk management including identification, analysis, response planning and monitoring/controls on the project. Demonstrate awareness in understanding our project controls processes and take corrective actions when necessary.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to serve others along with a high concern for people all the while maintaining a steady focus on project outcomes.
- Create a project culture that empowers everyone involved in the project; lead the development of a high-performance project team through supervision, training, coaching and mentoring; demonstrate the Boldt virtues of Hungry, Humble and Smart.
- Master’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field required. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Ten or more years’ experience in Critical Systems Commissioning with a focus on Data Center Construction. Experience to include completions verifications, startup management, script development and adherence, collaboration with an Energy Marshall program to safely perform commissioning and turnover of critical equipment lineups and systems.
- Ability to develop, write and execute detailed Commissioning Scripts with project stakeholders.
- 100% domestic travel is required.
- Ability to direct the process of Issue Identification and drive Issue Resolution Management.
- Broad understanding of successful project delivery including financial data, production planning, and lean process improvement techniques.
- Ability to apply innovative management techniques to inspire and empower teams to produce desired results.
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Proficiency in 0365 office suite.
