Job Title: Marine Forklift Operator (Seasonal – Potential for Year-Round)
Location: Boathouse Marina
Pay: $17.00 an hour then raise up to $18.00 an hour after 6 month probation
Job Type: Seasonal, Full-Time Hours (35–40 hrs/week, weather permitting)
Position Summary:
Boathouse Marina is looking for a skilled and dependable Marine Forklift Operator to join our team. This is a hands-on, outdoor role that includes forklift operation, Dock Hand duties, tractor driving, and potentially boat handling. The position is seasonal, but there is opportunity for year-round employment for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the marine forklift efficiently and safely
- Lift boats out of dry storage racks and place them on trailers using the forklift
- Perform daily maintenance of the marine forklift and assist with upkeep of other marina machinery
- Drive tractors to move trailers and other equipment
- Learn to operate and maneuver boats as needed (training provided)
- Assist with launching and docking boats
- Fuel boats and perform light maintenance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dock and marina area
- Deliver outstanding customer service to boaters and marina guests
- Prioritize safety and follow all marina and industry standards
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions, weather permitting
- Work independently and collaboratively with a team
Requirements:
- Previous experience operating a forklift (marine forklift preferred)
- Experience with heavy machinery and tractor operation is preferred
- Boat handling experience is a plus, or willingness to learn
- Comfortable with a flexible work schedule
- Must be available to work weekends and summer holidays — these are our busiest times
- Ability to lift heavy objects (50 lbs) and perform physical outdoor labor
- Strong communication skills and team-oriented attitude
- Dedicated to safety and equipment upkeep
Additional Information:
- Pay: $17.00 an hour then raise to $18.00 an hour after 6 month probation
- Seasonal position with potential to become year-round
- 35–40 hours per week, weather permitting
- PTO available after six-month probationary period
- No health insurance or 401(k) offered at this time
