Job Title: Food Manager and Chef
Location: The Boardwalk Hotel, St. Ignace, MI
About Us:
The Boardwalk Hotel is a seasonal luxury waterfront hotel in beautiful St. Ignace, MI, renowned for offering exceptional hospitality and delicious food experiences in our lounge, FIREWORX. We are seeking a talented and dedicated Food Manager and Chef to join our team and lead our culinary operations. (Job Offer is from April 15 - October 31st. Service commences May 15 until October 15, 2026)
Position Overview:
The Food Manager and Chef will be responsible for overseeing daily food service operations, delivering our innovative menu, trainging, scheduling and managing summer kitchen staff, maintaining high standards of quality and safety, and ensuring an exceptional dining experience for our guests. Candidate will also be required to Line Cook at least 2 nights per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and serve high-quality meals in accordance with our menu
- Manage Summer kitchen staff, including training, and scheduling
- Develop and update menu to reflect seasonal ingredients and trends
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations
- Monitor inventory levels and oversee ordering and cost control
- Maintain excellent customer service and guest satisfaction
- Collaborate with Gneral Manager to enhance overall food and beverage offerings
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Chef and Food Manager or similar role
- Strong culinary skills and creativity
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple responsibilities
- Passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences
