The School of Psychological Sciences in the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, at the University of Northern Colorado, is seeking an Assistant Professor of Psychological Sciences for a Contract Renewable Position.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Doctorate
or ABD in Psychology or a closely related field with experience teaching an introductory-level
psychology course.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Demonstrated success teaching introductory psychology
(i.e., “Psychology 101”) in a face-to-face format. Experience with online
teaching is also desirable. In addition, we seek candidates with experience
teaching a wide range of undergraduate classes such as Careers in Psychology,
Cognition, Psychology & Culture, and Sensation & Perception and/or
Mental Health, Theories of Counseling, and Clinical Psychology. We further seek
candidates with experience supervising graduate student instructors/teaching
assistants.
Position
Description:
The School of Psychological Sciences invites
applicants for a full-time Assistant Professor contract renewable position (one
year appointment with potential for renewal) starting Fall 2026. The School is
interested in recruiting and hiring highly qualified applicants, including those from
historically marginalized groups, to teach our introductory psychology course
(Principles of Psychology), supervise graduate student instructors of this
course, and teach a wide range of other undergraduate psychology courses. All
candidates must have a Ph.D. (or be ABD) in Psychology or a closely related
field. Successful applicants will demonstrate excellence or the potential for
excellence in undergraduate instruction and mentoring. The workload is 80% teaching (4 classes per
semester) and 20% service. This position does not include any workload in
scholarship/research. Service includes supervising graduate student
instructors/teaching assistants, advising undergraduates, and serving on
committees. Applicants should submit a
cover letter, CV, a statement of teaching philosophy (including strategies that
you would use in a “Psychology 101” course), teaching evaluations (or other evidence
of effectiveness), and contact information for three professional references.
