About the Role
The Assistant Controller will work closely with the Controller and CFO to help strengthen the company's accounting function and support the financial infrastructure required to scale the business. The finance organization is intentionally being built to support the next stage of growth, and this role will help establish the reporting discipline, systems integrity, and accounting processes needed for a larger platform.
This role operates within a small, hands on finance team and requires someone who is comfortable balancing execution with process improvement. The Assistant Controller will help improve the close process, ensure financial reporting is accurate and reliable, and strengthen the integrity of the company's accounting systems.
The role is well suited for a technically strong accountant who enjoys building structure within an evolving environment. The Assistant Controller will supervise a small accounting team and help establish stronger workflows, documentation standards, and financial processes while partnering with
operational leaders to ensure financial reporting reflects the underlying activity of the business.
Responsibilities
Strengthening the Close Process
- Support the Controller in managing the monthly and quarterly close processes. Improve the speed, reliability, and documentation of the close over time. Ensure financial statements are accurate and prepared in accordance with GAAP.
- Accounting Systems and Data Integrity
- Maintain the integrity of financial data across the company's accounting environment.
- Optimize the use of QuickBooks or similar accounting systems to support reliable reporting. Identify opportunities to streamline manual accounting processes and improve financial visibility.
Operational Accounting Partnership
- Work closely with operational leaders to ensure financial information accurately reflects activity across the business.
- Translate operational data into clear financial reporting that management can rely on.
- Partner with sales and customer service teams to optimize billing and cash collections cycles, internal controls and accounting discipline
- Support the development of consistent accounting policies and financial processes.
- Ensure the organization maintains strong documentation and audit readiness as the company grows.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA preferred.
- 6 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience with strong technical accounting and financial reporting capability.
- Experience operating in a smaller or scaling company where systems and processes are still evolving.
- Hands on experience managing close processes and preparing GAAP financial statements.
- Experience working with accounting systems such as QuickBooks or similar platforms.
- Prior experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff.
