About the Organization
The Beth is located at the center of several inner city neighborhoods, including the Alton Park Villages, Clifton Hills, East Lake, Oak Grove, Oak Hills, Piney Woods, and Emma Wheeler Homes. Taking a 2Gen approach, our services focus on the whole family. This includes out-school-time care for students, continued education/resource access for adults, and community assets like a food pantry and urban garden.
We currently have just over 30 employees. Our teams include a federally-funded case management program, a robust after school and summer program, wrap-around services including food access, development and administrative support.
About the Role
The OST Program Coordinator leads the daily operations of the Beth’s out-of-school-time program and supervises the OST Program Assistants and volunteers to ensure smooth, student-centered programming each day. Also provides hands-on leadership for the summer Jump STArt programming.
Reports to: Youth Impact Director
Direct Reports: up to 5 OST teachers at a time
Key Relationships
The student learners and their families, together with all education staff. This position works closely with the Program Director, as well as external program partners.
Schedule
During the school year, weekly hours range from 15 to 25, depending on the school schedule and planning needs. Regular, prompt attendance is required during scheduled OST hours (typically Monday–Thursday afternoons), with at least one Friday per month dedicated to professional development. For seven weeks during the summer, the hours increase to 37.5 per week to support the Jump STArt Camp.
Travel
Occasional local travel for program supply runs, family outreach, and partner meetings. A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation are required.
Primary Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Implementation
- Plan and lead engaging, developmentally appropriate OST and summer camp activities that support students’ academic growth, social-emotional development, and sense of belonging.
- Implement Read to Lead Academy curriculum and classroom SEL implementations.
- Coordinate day-to-day program logistics - ensuring staff, volunteers, supplies, and spaces are ready for a safe and successful program each day.
- Serve as a substitute teacher during OST hours as needed.
- Help maintain a clean, organized environment by involving students in shared responsibilities.
Communication & Conflict Resolution
- Maintain regular communication with the Youth Impact Director to align programming and track outcomes.
- Share weekly and monthly calendars with students, families, and the Youth Impact Director.
- Works with Resource Access to connect community members to resources and supports.
- Address and resolve student, staff, and parent concerns promptly and professionally, knowing when to escalate or seek support.
- Effectively manage student behavior to create a safe, inclusive environment grounded in trauma-informed practices.
Documentation & Program Management
- Take and track student attendance; document achievements and behavior data accurately and on time.
- Monitor program performance, evaluate outcomes, and support data-driven improvements.
- Submit required timesheets, expense receipts, and program records to the Youth Impact Director.
- Maintain ethical standards and confidentiality in all practices.
Health & Safety
- Supervise and ensure the safety of students at all times.
- Comply with all requirements for mandatory reporting of child abuse, illegal harassment, breaches of ethics, or any criminal activity of which the employee becomes aware.
- Lead the orderly, expedient, and safe transition of students from one location to another, including dismissal procedures.
- Help schedule and supervise emergency drills; stay current on CPR and safe practices and procedures.
Supervision
- Supervise OST Program staff and volunteers, ensuring quality, safety, and consistency in student engagement.
- Provide training, coaching, and ongoing feedback to support the Program staff’s professional growth.
- Hold team members accountable to the Beth’s standards and reinforce core values in all interactions.
Eligibility
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
- Experience working with K–12 students in a classroom, camp, after-school, or other multi-age setting required.
- Knowledge of behavior management and conflict resolution for groups of students required.
- Experience in community or youth programs, after-school settings, or related fields strongly preferred.
- Pre-employment drug screening, valid driver’s license, health statement, and criminal background check required.
