Location: Arlington, VA (50% Travel Required)

Employment Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

Compensation: $50/hr on W2

Work Authorization: U.S. Citizens (USC) Only

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Specialist – Electrical to support commissioning and facility performance projects involving electrical infrastructure, building systems, and mission-critical environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in electrical commissioning, testing, startup activities, and operational performance validation across facility and infrastructure projects. This position offers a mix of onsite and office-based work, providing opportunities to collaborate with clients, project teams, and contractors to ensure systems operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design and operational expectations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform commissioning activities for electrical and facility systems across various project environments.
  • Support commissioning, retro-commissioning, and re-commissioning projects.
  • Execute and oversee testing activities including:
  • QA/QC Testing
  • Functional Performance Testing
  • Equipment & Systems Startup
  • Validate system performance to ensure compliance with established design requirements, safety standards, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Collaborate directly with clients, project stakeholders, contractors, and project teams to drive successful project outcomes.
  • Assess operational readiness, performance efficiency, and system functionality across electrical and facility environments.
  • Support documentation, reporting, issue resolution, and commissioning deliverables.
  • Participate in both field and office-based project activities.
  • Promote safe work practices and adherence to applicable industry codes and standards.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive commissioning experience involving one or more of the following:
  • Utility Infrastructure
  • Electrical Power Systems
  • Life Safety Systems
  • Low Voltage Systems
  • Building / Facility Systems & Components
  • Facility Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
  • Working knowledge of NFPA, NETA, and NICET electrical testing standards and code requirements.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning methodologies, testing procedures, and system startup activities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% as project needs require.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Mission Critical environments (Data Centers, Critical Infrastructure, High Availability Facilities, etc.) is highly preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working directly with owners, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
