Upper School Athletic Trainer
(Temporary position February 2025 - May 2025)
The Benjamin School is currently seeking a qualified Temporary Athletic Trainer to support our high school athletic program. This role involves delivering comprehensive athletic training services, including, but not limited to, conducting school screenings, implementing injury-prevention initiatives, providing athletic consultations, assessing and treating injuries, and managing rehabilitation cases for student-athletes.

Job Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required, with professional athletic training accreditation recognized by the Board of Certification (BOC), or successful completion of the BOC internship requirements. Candidates must also hold current certification from the Board of Certification.
- Florida Department of Health licensure, or eligibility, as an Athletic Trainer.
- Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of an automated external defibrillator at the professional rescue level from approved organizations.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices related to athletic training and sports medicine
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with athletes, coaches, healthcare professionals, and parents
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make critical decisions under pressure
- Skilled in maintaining detailed and accurate medical records
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Work under the supervision of the Director of Athletics and the Upper School Associate Athletic Director
- Provides Emergency care and first aid when necessary
- Responsible for the evaluation and treatment of athletic-related injuries
- Manages injuries using appropriate treatment modalities within the scope of athletic training certification and state practice act
- Record keeping and other organizational and administrative duties
- Collaborate with coaches, physicians, and school nurses
- Communicate with parents when necessary
- Monitor weather conditions and relay appropriate information to coaches
- Cover home games and practices for multiple sports
- Travel is required for the football
- Assist with lunch for students with special nutritional needs (ex: food allergies)
- The individual holding this position will attend practices and games for The Benjamin School, starting at 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on weekdays, occasionally as late as 10:00 p.m. on some days. Saturday coverage as needed for events.
