PART-TIME SUBSTITUTE NURSE

The Benjamin School is seeking Substitute Nurses for its North Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens campuses.

Position Summary:

The Benjamin School is seeking compassionate and reliable Substitute Nurses to support our school health services program. This role primarily involves stepping in during the absence of the permanent school nurse and may also include assisting the nurse during peak times or special circumstances. This is a flexible, on-call position ideal for candidates with a passion for student wellness and a readiness to contribute to a caring school environment.

Compensation: The part-time Substitute Nurse position offers a daily rate of $200.00.

Work Schedule: Hours for this position may vary:

• Full-day: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM
• Half-day : 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM or 11:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Responsibilities include nursing assessments, first aid, medication administration, management of chronic diseases, emergency response, and other nursing duties to students as prescribed by physicians, in accordance with treatment orders and established procedures and protocols.
• Provides health services to students and staff in alignment with school policies
• Supports the permanent nurse with routine care and administrative tasks as needed
• Responds to health-related incidents and emergencies
• Maintain written and electronic nursing documentation of health services provided.
• Confers with students, parents, and teachers regarding medical treatment; follows confidentiality policies and regulations.
• Independently accompanies the school's faculty members on occasional field trips to provide first aid, administer medication, and offer emergency treatment as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Reports to Division Head.

• Able to interact with children in a warm, compassionate, and confident manner
• Knowledge of common childhood illnesses and chronic diseases such as severe allergies, diabetes, and seizures
• Ability to exercise independent nursing judgment, remain flexible, and work effectively under pressure
• Ability to organize and set priorities
• Ability to communicate professionally with students, staff, and parents
• Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information

Education and Experience:

• A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is required
• An active Florida RN licensure is required
• CPR/First Aid Certification is required
• Pediatric experience is preferred

• Physical and Work Requirements:
• Ability to stand, walk, and frequently sit for prolonged periods of time. Additionally, you may need to kneel, walk quickly or run, bend over, lift (20), and push.
