Job Description:
The Meaningful Day Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides supervision, coaching, and individualized support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Working in community-based and employment-focused settings, the DSP assists individuals in developing job skills, life skills, independence, and meaningful community engagement while supporting goals outlined in each person's Person-Centered Plan.
Essential Duties:
- Implement and support individualized Person-Centered Plans in accordance with each person's preferences and goals.
- Provide coaching and support that promotes independence, life skills development, employment readiness, and community inclusion.
- Document goals, outcomes, supports, and daily activities accurately and within required timeframes.
- Assist individuals with personal care needs, medication administration, and behavioral support as needed.
- Provide transportation and support during community-based activities and employment opportunities.
- Develop and maintain community activity schedules and meaningful experiences for individuals supported.
- Support career exploration, employment development, and workplace success through individualized coaching and accommodations.
- Maintain accurate documentation including incident reports, vehicle logs, attendance records, and service tracking.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding participant progress, concerns, and support needs.
- Collaborate with residential staff, families, employers, and community partners to ensure continuity of services.
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating appropriate social skills, professionalism, and person-centered practices.
- Attend required trainings and maintain certifications necessary to perform job responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with non-verbal individuals.
- Must be proficient in computer systems and able to accurately enter and maintain required documentation.
- Must demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Must obtain and maintain Med Tech certification or be eligible for certification.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Must provide proof of authorization to work in the U.S.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening, criminal background checks (CJIS/Family Law Article 5-561), and CPS clearance.
- Must possess a valid driver's license in good standing and meet insurability requirements.
- Must be able to perform Safety-Care physical interventions, except for approved temporary or minimal restrictions authorized by the Behavior Department.
