Job Description:
The Residential Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides supervision, care, and individualized support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in community-based residential settings. DSPs assist individuals with daily living skills, personal care, community engagement, and goal achievement while promoting independence, choice, and inclusion in accordance with each person's Person-Centered Plan.
Schedules Available:
- Monday - Friday: 12:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.
- Monday – Friday: 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., with an additional Saturday or Sunday shift to achieve full-time hours.
- Monday - Friday: 4:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Pay:
The pay for this position is $17.00/hourly. Additionally, employees receive a $2.50/hour shift differential for hours worked beginning Friday at 4:00 p.m. through Monday at 8:00 a.m.
Essential Duties:
- Implement and support individualized Person-Centered Plans in accordance with each person's goals and preferences.
- Provide support with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, household tasks, medication administration, and community participation.
- Promote independence, self-advocacy, and meaningful community engagement.
- Support individuals in developing and maintaining relationships with family, friends, and community members.
- Provide transportation and support during community activities and appointments.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including daily notes, medication records, incident reports, and service documentation.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding individual progress, concerns, and support needs.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive home environment.
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, respect, and person-centered practices.
- Attend required trainings and maintain certifications necessary to perform job responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
- Must possess strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Must obtain and maintain Med Tech certification or be eligible for certification within 90 days of hire.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Must provide proof of authorization to work in the U.S.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening, criminal background checks (CJIS/Family Law Article 5-561), and CPS clearance.
- Must possess a valid driver's license in good standing and meet insurability requirements.
- Must be able to lift or push up to 50 pounds and perform the physical requirements of the position.
