TAYLOR FORK LIFT OPERATOR

Job Summary

The Taylor Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating heavy-duty Taylor forklifts to move logs, lumber, and materials throughout the sawmill. This role supports production flow, ensures proper material handling, and maintains a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate Taylor forklifts (large-capacity industrial forklifts) to transport logs, lumber, and byproducts

• Load and unload trucks, railcars, and production lines efficiently

• Stack and organize lumber in designated storage areas

• Supply logs to the mill and remove finished products from production areas

• Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance issues

• Follow all safety policies, OSHA guidelines, and site procedures

• Maintain clear communication with supervisors, yard personnel, and mill operators

• Assist with general yard duties as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (preferred)

• Prior experience operating Taylor forklifts or large-capacity forklifts (required or strongly preferred)

• Experience in a sawmill, lumber yard, or industrial environment preferred

• Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)

• Strong understanding of load capacity, balance, and safe material handling

• Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions

• Good hand-eye coordination and situational awareness

• Ability to work flexible shifts (including nights, weekends, or overtime if needed)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally

• Must be able to work in dusty, noisy, and high-traffic industrial environments

• Frequent climbing in and out of heavy equipment

Preferred Skills

• Experience handling logs or oversized materials

• Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment troubleshooting

• Strong attention to safety and detail

• Team-oriented mindset with good communication skills
