Youth Counselor

Responsibilities

• Provide daily supervision and support to children and adolescents.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with youth and serve as a positive role model.
• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate recreational, educational, and social activities.
• Organize group activities, games, arts and crafts, and special events.
• Encourage participation and promote teamwork, communication, and social skills.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured environment.
• Assist with behavioral management and address conflicts in a calm and appropriate manner.
• Monitor youth during activities, meals, transitions, and other program activities.
• Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, teachers, and program staff as needed.
• Maintain accurate daily attendance, activity, and incident documentation.
• Follow all organizational policies, safety procedures, and mandated reporting requirements.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other program activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience working with children or adolescents preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage and connect with youth in a positive manner.
• Patience, dependability, and strong judgment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Must be able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with youth.
