Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the shelter program and ensure a safe, supportive, and well-organized environment for residents.
  • Supervise, manage, and provide leadership to program staff, including Case Managers, Housing Specialists, Social Service staff, and other direct-care personnel.
  • Establish performance expectations, conduct staff supervision and evaluations, and address performance issues as needed.
  • Ensure residents receive appropriate case management, housing assistance, benefits support, referrals, and other supportive services.
  • Monitor resident progress and assist staff with complex cases, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of case records, assessments, service plans, progress notes, incident reports, and other required documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, funder requirements, contractual obligations, and applicable shelter regulations.
  • Monitor program performance, outcomes, staffing levels, and service delivery to ensure program goals are met.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, government agencies, housing providers, healthcare providers, and other external partners.
  • Participate in audits, program reviews, inspections, and meetings with funders and regulatory agencies.
  • Review program data and reports and develop strategies to improve service delivery and program outcomes.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, resident concerns, staff issues, and other operational challenges.
  • Conduct and/or facilitate regular staff meetings, case conferences, trainings, and program meetings.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and retention of program staff.
  • Promote a trauma-informed, client-centered, and respectful approach to service delivery.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing coverage and effective communication across shifts.
  • Prepare reports and provide regular updates to senior leadership regarding program operations, staffing, resident services, and outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field required; OR
  • LMSW or LMHC required.
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in social services, shelter, residential services, or a related human services environment.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience required.
  • Shelter experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals and/or families experiencing homelessness and other complex social-service needs.
  • Knowledge of housing resources, benefits, community-based services, and homeless services systems.
  • Strong understanding of case management, crisis intervention, and service planning.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong documentation and computer skills, including experience with electronic case management systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, residents, leadership, funders, and community partners.

Salary : $77,000 - $85,000
