The Aviator Assistant Restaurant Manager
Position Summary
The Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the restaurant, with a primary focus on delivering exceptional guest experiences, overseeing bar operations, and leading front-of-house team members. This role works closely with the General Manager to ensure service standards, Team member performance, and operational excellence are consistently achieved while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Service & Hospitality
- Lead by example in providing exceptional hospitality and service to all guests.
- Resolve guest concerns, complaints, and service recovery situations promptly and professionally.
- Ensure all guests receive attentive, friendly, and efficient service.
- Conduct regular dining room walkthroughs to monitor service quality and guest satisfaction.
- Build relationships with regular guests and promote a welcoming atmosphere.
Front-of-House Leadership
- Supervise and support servers, bartenders, hosts, food runners, and support staff.
- Manage floor operations during service periods to ensure efficient execution.
- Coach, motivate, and develop team members through ongoing feedback and training.
- Ensure proper staffing levels and assist with scheduling based on business needs.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate goals, promotions, and operational updates.
- Uphold company policies, procedures, and service standards.
Bar Operations
- Oversee daily bar operations to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance.
- Monitor liquor, beer, wine, and mixer inventory levels.
- Ensure responsible alcohol service and compliance with all local liquor laws.
- Assist with beverage ordering, inventory control, and waste management.
- Support bartender training and execution of beverage programs and promotions.
- Monitor beverage cost controls and help identify opportunities for improved profitability.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure restaurant cleanliness, organization, and safety standards are maintained.
- Maintain FOH systems, checklists, and opening/closing procedures.
- Assist with inventory management and cost-control initiatives.
- Support implementation of company initiatives, promotions, and marketing programs.
- Ensure compliance with health department regulations and food safety standards.
- Assist in achieving sales, labor, and profitability goals.
Team Development
- Participate in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of FOH team members.
- Train Team members on service standards, menu knowledge, and company expectations.
- Conduct performance coaching and contribute to performance evaluations.
- Create a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Recognize and reward team member achievements.
Qualifications
- 2 years of restaurant management or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of full-service restaurant operations.
- Experience managing bartenders and bar operations preferred.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Understanding of labor management, scheduling, and inventory controls.
- Knowledge of food safety and alcohol service regulations.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as business demands.
