What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Manager position at The Attic?
Long Beach, California
The Attic is a full service restaurant located in Long Beach, California. Established in 2012, The Attic has been recognized by the Michelin Guide for five consecutive years and has become a well established part of the Long Beach dining community.
We are open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, offering a full bar and chef inspired food in a high volume, hospitality driven environment.
We are looking for an experienced General Manager who wants to be on the floor, lead from the front, develop a strong team, and understands how to drive sales and grow the business. We want a leader who is present, engaged with guests and employees, and takes ownership of the restaurant's performance.
This is a unique opportunity because the position is currently held by our longtime General Manager, who has been with us for 14 years. He will be transitioning into another leadership role within one of our other concepts, allowing for a structured transition and proper training for the incoming GM.
• Lead the day to day operations of a high volume, full service restaurant
• Maintain a strong presence on the floor during peak service periods
• Lead, coach, develop, and hold managers and team members accountable
• Create a culture focused on hospitality, teamwork, consistency, and guest satisfaction
• Recruit, train, retain, and develop high performing employees
• Drive sales through exceptional hospitality, local marketing, events, and community involvement
• Identify opportunities to increase traffic, average check, repeat business, and overall revenue
• Manage labor, scheduling, food costs, beverage costs, and controllable expenses
• Understand and manage the restaurant's P&L and key operating metrics
• Work closely with the Chef and kitchen leadership to maintain food quality, consistency, and execution
• Oversee bar operations and ensure responsible alcohol service and compliance
• Maintain high standards for cleanliness, organization, safety, and facility maintenance
• Handle guest concerns professionally and use feedback to improve operations
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and applicable California labor, health, and safety requirements
• Conduct manager meetings, employee meetings, training, and performance reviews
• Develop managers and team members for future leadership opportunities
• Work directly with ownership and senior leadership on restaurant performance and growth initiatives
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys the restaurant business and understands that great operators are visible.
The ideal candidate has significant full service restaurant management experience, understands high volume operations, is comfortable managing financial performance, and knows how to build a team that delivers great hospitality consistently.
Most importantly, we want someone who thinks like an operator, not just a manager. Someone who understands how to drive business while protecting the culture and reputation we've built since 2012.
We offer a competitive compensation package that includes:
• Competitive base salary
• Performance based bonus package
• Full benefits
• Gym reimbursement
• Cell phone reimbursement
• Research & Development dining allowance
• Paid time off
• Leadership development and growth opportunities
This is a long term leadership opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of an established restaurant while becoming part of a growing hospitality company.
